Brotherhood Outdoors Season 5 Episode 13 First Time Turkey Hunt
- January 1, 2013
First Time Turkey Hunt is the thirteenth episode of the fifth season of Brotherhood Outdoors. In this episode, we follow first-time hunter Austin Musselman, as he embarks on a turkey hunt in Missouri, with the help of professional outfitter JP Morris.
Austin is a proud member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers, and he has always been interested in hunting, but he has never had the opportunity to go on a hunt before. So when he found out he had been selected to go on a turkey hunt with Brotherhood Outdoors, he was thrilled.
The episode begins with Austin arriving at the Missouri airport, where he is met by JP Morris, his guide for the trip. JP is an experienced outfitter, and he has been guiding turkey hunts for over 20 years. He immediately puts Austin at ease, and they hit it off right away.
After a brief drive to the lodge, Austin is shown his room and given a rundown of the schedule for the next few days. He meets the other hunters who are on the trip with him, and they all share their stories about their love for hunting.
The next morning, Austin wakes up early and heads out to the woods with JP. They set up a blind in a good spot, and JP goes over the basics of turkey hunting with Austin. They use a few different turkey calls, hoping to lure a gobbler into range.
Hours pass, and the hunters see a few hens and jakes, but no mature gobblers. Austin is getting antsy, wondering if they will be able to bag a bird before the trip is over. But JP reminds him that patience is key, and that sometimes hunting can be frustrating.
Finally, in the afternoon, they hear a gobble in the distance. JP is excited, knowing that they are getting closer to a bird. He makes a few more calls, trying to get the gobbler to come their way.
After some tense moments of waiting, a large tom walks into view. Austin's heart races as he raises his gun, taking careful aim. He takes the shot, and the bird falls to the ground. JP congratulates him on his first kill, and they celebrate their success.
Later that evening, the hunters gather around the lodge for a turkey dinner, and they talk about their experiences in the woods. Austin is beaming with pride, knowing that he was able to take his first bird on his first hunt.
The next day, Austin is back in the woods with JP, hoping to get another chance at a turkey. They set up the blind in a different location, and use some different calls. But despite their efforts, they don't see any more gobblers that day.
On their final morning of the hunt, Austin and JP head back to a spot they had scouted earlier in the week. As they settle into their blind, they hear a few gobbles from a nearby field. Excitement builds as they set up some decoys, hoping to lure the birds in.
As the sun starts to rise, three gobblers walk into view. Austin takes aim at one of them, but he hesitates. JP reminds him to take his time, and to make sure he is comfortable with the shot. Finally, Austin pulls the trigger, and the bird drops to the ground.
With two birds successfully harvested, Austin is over the moon with his experience on the trip. He knows that he will always remember his first turkey hunt, and he feels grateful for the opportunity to go on such a memorable adventure.
As the episode comes to a close, Austin thanks JP and the Brotherhood Outdoors crew for giving him the chance to hunt, and for making his first time out such a success. He knows that he will cherish the memories and experiences of the trip for years to come.
