Follow The Money Season 2 Episode 9 Episode 9

Following the financial maneuvers of white-collar criminals can be a sticky issue. Especially for investigators, like those on the Danish series, Follow the Money. Season 2, Episode 9, offers the latest insight into what the economic powers that be are doing - and how the authorities are responding.

Our story begins at New Dane, where Alf and Mads Strauss are attempting to find Mia. Mia's husband, Erik, has disappeared with the millions of Danish kroner stolen from Energreen. Following a tip from P, the men track down Erik's family. Despite Erik's best efforts, his brother-in-law reveals where he is hiding out - an old hotel in the countryside.

Meanwhile, Nicky is attending a lavish party with Baroness Swennson. But it's not all champagne and caviar for the young criminal. Nicky is confronted by his old friends from the ghetto. They demand expensive gifts from him and threaten to expose his secret life if he does not comply.

Bimse is also getting some unwanted attention. On a trip to Germany, he and his driver are pulled over and searched. They have a stash of cash in the trunk, which doesn't look good. Fortunately, Bimse's German girlfriend arrives on the scene and smooths things over with her connections.

Over at the bank, Claudia receives a new client. It's Energreen's CFO, Ulrik Skov, who wants her to handle some tax havens. Claudia's boss, Jan, is cautious around Ulrik but Claudia assures him that they won't get into trouble.

Back at the police station, Mads enlists the help of an old acquaintance to help track down Erik and the stolen money. Mads's source tells him that Erik and Mia are staying at a hotel in the countryside and that the money is buried nearby. Jess and Mads rush to the location and start digging but come up empty-handed. Mia and Erik may have fled, but they are still being tracked by the law.

Elsewhere, Nicky tries to keep up with the demands of his old buddies by stealing an expensive watch from Baroness Swennson's boyfriend. Nicky's plan backfires and he is caught by security. In a moment of desperation, Nicky tries to bribe the security guard but is unsuccessful and is ultimately arrested.

Back at the bank, Claudia is doing some detective work of her own. She discovers that Ulrik has been using fake documents and hiding assets offshore. Claudia confronts Ulrik, demanding that he tell her what's going on. Ulrik panics and attacks Claudia, but she manages to get away. Later, Claudia shares her findings with her boss, and together they decide to report Ulrik's fraudulent activities to the authorities.

As the episode draws to a close, Mads and Jess continue the hunt for Erik and Mia. With the help of a metal detector, they finally find the stolen money buried in the woods. But they are not alone. Erik and Mia have been watching them and are ready to strike. Will Mads and Jess be able to apprehend the thieves and return the money to its rightful owners?
