Game Bang was a web series produced by DEFY Media, which aired from 2012 to 2018. It featured the comedy stylings of a core cast of YouTubers who played a variety of video games in a tournament-style format. Each episode would feature a different group of players, with the occasional celebrity guest star.
Wes Johnson, known for his voice work in video games and cartoons, and Joshua Ovenshire, a popular YouTuber and member of the Smosh Games team, were regulars on the show. They were joined by a revolving door of talented and hilarious YouTubers, including Mari Takahashi, Jovenshire's fellow Smosh Games co-host, and Lasercorn, another popular YouTube gamer.
The show would typically begin with host Jovenshire introducing the players and explaining the rules of the game they would be playing. The games were usually selected based on their potential for fun and laughter, rather than for their competitive nature. Some episodes featured classic arcade games, while others featured modern console games.
Once the game was underway, the players would compete in a series of rounds, each with its own unique challenge. These challenges ranged from the silly, like trying to throw a virtual tomato at a character's face, to the strategic, like completing a maze before your opponents.
The challenges often involved some physical element, like wearing a silly hat or standing on one foot, which added an extra layer of humor to the proceedings. The players would often interact with each other via in-game chat or by shouting across the room, providing plenty of opportunities for banter and quick-witted humor.
As the rounds progressed, players would be eliminated until only one remained. That winner would be crowned the episode's champion and awarded bragging rights until the next episode. The loser(s) would usually have to perform some kind of punishment or challenge, such as singing a silly song or eating a bizarre food combination.
Game Bang was a hilarious and fast-paced show that was perfect for fans of gaming and comedy alike. With a revolving cast of talented YouTubers and a variety of different games, every episode was unique and entertaining in its own way. Wes Johnson and Joshua Ovenshire were perfect hosts, keeping the energy level high and the jokes flowing. Although the show has ended, its legacy lives on as a fun and entertaining web series that will be remembered fondly by fans for years to come.
