In Joker Game season 1 episode 8, titled "Double Joker (Part 1)," the D-Agency is tasked with a mission to retrieve a confidential document from the Soviet Union. The team is divided into two groups, with each group having a joker to lead them. However, the mission takes an unexpected turn when the two jokers become embroiled in a power struggle, pitting them against each other in a battle for control.
The episode begins with the D-Agency receiving an urgent message from the Japanese embassy in the Soviet Union. The embassy informs the agency that a top-secret document containing sensitive information about their military strategies has gone missing. The document is believed to be in the possession of Soviet spy, Ivanov, who is known to have links with a Japanese businessman residing in the Soviet Union.
The D-Agency is tasked with retrieving the document before it can be used against Japan. However, they soon realize that the mission won't be easy, as Ivanov is highly skilled in espionage and has a network of informants all over the city.
To gain access to Ivanov, the team is divided into two groups, each led by a joker. The first group, comprising of Amari and Fukumoto, is tasked with infiltrating Ivanov's inner circle by posing as businessmen interested in investing in the Soviet Union. The second group, led by Kaminaga and Jitsui, is to track down the Japanese businessman, who is believed to be the link between Ivanov and the document.
However, as the mission progresses, tensions begin to rise between the two jokers, Kaminaga and Amari. Kaminaga, the more experienced of the two, feels that Amari is too impulsive and may jeopardize the mission. On the other hand, Amari resents Kaminaga's cautious approach, which he feels is slowing them down.
Their differences come to a head when Amari, acting on his own, decides to confront Ivanov. However, the plan goes awry, and Amari quickly finds himself in a dangerous situation. Kaminaga, who had warned against the plan, is forced to intervene and rescue his colleague.
The episode ends with the two jokers at odds with each other, with the friction between them threatening to derail the mission. As they regroup and prepare to move forward, it becomes clear that the power struggle between the two jokers is far from over.
