The team made an attempt to reach the treacherous terrain of Terra del Fuego and off into the horizon of the Beagle Channel, documenting wildlife rarely seen by others.

In Prudhoe Bay Alaska the team are escorted across private land to the shores of the Arctic Ocean. After checking for polar bears, the team heads out onto the frozen ice and have the rare opportunity to walk on the Ocean. Leaving the Arctic they head south following the Alaskan Pipeline, built in 1971. On their way to Canada and the US they meet Michael J. Fox and James Cameron in Los Angeles.

The team reenters China and head to Kashgar in the autonomous Xingjiang Provence of Western China. As they head north into Russia they encounter their most expensive border bribe and are accused of being terrorists. Three team members must leave the expedition leaving 3 people and 3 vehicles to cross Siberia in the winter.

In this episode the team drives up to the highest motorable pass in the world, the Khardung La Pass. On their way down Nancy decides to ride her mountain bike. After 2 hours she go missing near the border of Pakistan. The team scours the mountain passes asking local officials and hospitals if they had seen her.

Formerly known as Burma, the country doesn't host foreign travelers often and they are the 2nd group to cross the country into India since 1952. After two and a half months, the team is more than ready to get out of Bangkok and back on the road, but it's not going to be that easy. They are stalled almost immediately at the Thailand/Cambodian border by an unexpected restriction. Foreigners are not allowed to drive in the country. After two days a deal is struck for native guides to drive the vehicles, but first the guides must be found.

The team boards a cargo carrier in Australia bound for Singapore. Rushing through Singapore straight into Malaysia, pausing in Kuala Lampur. Neil convinces Chanda and Nancy that they must try out some of the holistic medicine prominent throughout the region. After all, the ankle Nancy twisted in Australia is still not healed, and this might help. Then it's time to head into Thailand.

The cars and the crew meet up in Brisbane, Australia to start the second leg of the expedition. On their way north up the beautiful Gold Coast they stop into the Australia Zoo to hang out with some koala bears and kangaroos. They continue their route north to Cairns, where they embark on a scuba-diving adventure at the Great Barrier Reef. Justin, Todd and Neil attempt their first scuba dive.

The episode starts in Puno, Peru where Neil introduces the floating reed islands. It time to move on and so the team head into Bolivia where Neil tries some soup at a local cafe. Nick decides they are ready to push on but an hour down the road the cars run out of fuel. Stranded in the Atacama desert the team begin to search for fuel in an empty town.

It's Christmas day and the team is in Quito, Ecuador. They have taken over a local youth hostel as they wait for their vehicles to arrive from Panama. They spend the day exchanging gifts and cooking a Christmas meal. The mood is merry and guest travel writer Rolf Potts is especially happy, saying that he felt more at home than any Christmas in recollection.

The travelers pass through Penas Blancas at the Costa Rican border. Their first stop is a visit with Janine, an environmentalist who shows the travellers how she has rehabilitate injured or abandoned wildlife. Shocked Neil explains to a bewildered team that somehow his vehicle wandered off the Panamanian Highway and destroyed two wheels and got two flat tires.

When the team is stranded at La Paz, unable to board the ferry to Mazatlan because they don't have the necessary paperwork. After 3 days of delays they finally get on the ferry. The team spends the night on the 15 hour ferry ride. Soon after they are stopped by Mexican federales (state police) who are offer an escort service through the notoriously dangerous highways of Mexico City.

The driving team-members' roles are introduced. The team describes the vehicle capabilities as they head for off-road drivers training where they get a crash course in vehicle control and safety. They reach the tip of Baja and enter the port of Baja. They'll need to take a ferry over to Mazatlan so they can continue south through Mexico and Central America to catch their ship in Panama.
