In a few hours it will be the big night: Nicholas is finally going to get practical experience when he accompanies Santa on his rounds delivering toys all over the world. Unfortunately, just as he's climbing into the sleigh, Santa accidentally breaks his leg. Nicholas decides to deliver the presents alone.

49. The Day Before Christmas (Special #1: 1x26')

November 1, 2006

Nicholas is not sure what the date is. Santa offers him an Advent calendar, but with all the work in the factory just before Christmas, Nicholas is not sure he opened the windows correctly. Santa asks Nicholas to search for a sign that will prove for sure that it is the 23rd and not the 24th of December - a star with seven points and Nicholas goes on a hunt to find a star with seven points.

48. A Present for Margaret

Nicholas faces another test as part of his apprenticeship: to design a "present with the color of a smile." The problem is that he doesn't know where to begin. Meanwhile, Santa is inconsolable: this year, yet again, he hasn't managed to make Margaret, a little Canadian girl, happy. Nicholas gives an idea to Santa to invite Margaret to play Reindeer hockey at the North Pole which the girl loves!

47. O Christmas Tree

Nicholas discovers one of Santa's best-kept secrets - he offers trees a second life. But one of the trees regains too much vitality after a blunder by Humphrey. The tree came to life and starts haunting the Factory in search of a Christmas thrill that brightened one evening of its existence.

46. Santa's Fan

For the first time in the history of Christmas, a child named Chris manages to stay awake during Santa's visit and takes a close-up photo without Santa noticing. Nicholas must visit Chris to find out what happened. He must tell Santa the truth about how the child managed to bypass the security system that makes children fall asleep.

45. Practical Joker

The Toy Factory has a power outage during a storm. At the same time, Nicholas is given the delicate task of compiling a list of children who haven't been good. He invites Brenda, who was the rowdiest and greatest prankster from the orphanage, to the North Pole in the hope that she can redeem herself during her stay.

44. The Melvinelf

Nicholas discovers an elf hibernating in the ice bank. Santa is positive it's Melvin, who left for his native land more than a hundred years ago to find the secret recipe for Melvinelf juice - and never came back. At first, Santa is delighted: at last he will discover the only Christmas secret that has escaped him so far.

43. The Test of the Mammoth

The great day arrives: Nicholas is going to become immortal, like every Santa before him. But to do that he must find the last living mammoth and gather its magic breath. This animal hibernates under the ice bank and wakes up every century to change shelter and eat a few leaves. Nicholas sets out to find it.

42. Elf Certificate

November 1, 2006

A department store Santa, frustrated because he doesn't lead the life of his illustrious model, decides to go to the North Pole and surreptitiously takes Santa's place. The impostor sends the real Santa out and gets a spitting image of Santa himself, steps into his "boots." Nicholas, through his instinct and tenacity, manages to find the real Santa and overthrow the usurper.

40. Metal Granny

Beatrice's mother, Jackie, comes to visit. Beatrice learns her mother is a tattooed, heavy-metal biker. She influences Nicholas, who adopts this fascinating granny's crude language. Jackie gives the Factory a Halloween-style makeover, but Beatrice and Nicholas discuss the change, apologize to Jackie and turn everything back to normal before Santa returns.

39. Real Toys

November 1, 2006

Nicholas is impatient to become Santa. He starts to suspect that toys prevent children from growing up faster. He takes Santa's advice who suggests he start by replacing the toys in his room. The next morning, the toys have turned into real things and Nicholas regrets the transformation. Later, Santa and Beatrice take Nicholas back to his room and he is delighted to have his toys back.

38. So Lucky!

Nicholas meets Marco, a pal from the orphanage who hasn't been as lucky as Nicholas. Marco's adoptive parents are evil. Marco is fascinated when he discovers Nicholas' lifestyle. He persuades Nicholas to invite him to Christmas House for a new toy horse. At first Marco feels guilty for being so lucky, but then he's just happy as he begins a new life with parents that are Inuit Eskimos.

37. The Reindeers' Secret

All of Santa's reindeers, except one, accidentally lose their antlers. Too proud to be seen without them, they refuse to work. Nicholas offers to fetch the magic flute that can restore antlers, but along the way, he meets his friends who are being hunted by a wolf. Nicholas must use the magic flute to put the wolf to sleep and restore the reindeer's lost pride as their antlers grow back.

36. The Meteorite

November 1, 2006

Nicholas discovers a meteorite on the ice bank and starts daydreaming about the rock from a distant galaxy. When Nicholas brings the rock home, everybody starts acting strangely and the next day when Nicholas is in school, they're back to normal. Nicholas and Rufus get rid of the rock and Christmas House goes back to normal.

35. A Test! What Test?

It's check-up time at Christmas House. Although everybody is in perfect health, Beatrice is worried about Santa's sleigh, which hasn't been very reliable lately. They will have to put it through some tests. Nicholas overhears the conversation and tries to change the plan. Eventually, with a little help from Santa, Nicholas tries to have fun in order to succeed the test.

34. The First Toy

November 1, 2006

The time has come for Nicholas to design his first toy. He must invent it and produce it himself. He has three days to do it and may not get help from anybody else. Eventually, Nicholas decides to make a teddy bear, using Rufus as model. Rufus tries to go into hibernation, though he helps Nicholas complete his first toy before he sleeps.

33. Grandma Nicole

November 1, 2006

Grandma Nicole, a retired pilot, decides to hand out presents to children every single day. She becomes a major competitor for Santa, who doesn't seem the least bit worried. Of course, we must trust in the magic of a Christmas present. But Nicholas, when confronted with Tim-Tim and Nic-Nac's excitement, decides to take action. He discovers a very sweet old lady with an irresistible smile.

32. The Lost Bear

November 1, 2006

A teddy bear, a forgotten Christmas present dating back 25 years ago, is returned to Santa in the mail. Nicholas is determined to find its owner. With a little magic, Nicholas manages to reconstruct the story of the lost bear and finally deliver it to its owner Charles who is grown up with children of his own.

31. The Unwanted Present

Nicholas receives a letter from a boy named Gaspard: his little sister Josephine was born on December 25 and he's not at all happy with his present. Nicholas takes Josephine to the North Pole, and eventually Gaspard realized that he loves her after all and wants her back.

30. Ghost of Christmas

November 1, 2006

Nicholas releases Harold, a little ghost imprisoned in a present by a previous Santa. Harold makes Nicholas' life a real pain until Nicholas manages to find the magic of Christmas that Harold missed; the Christmas music that was played by the elves. Harold loves this music and it takes him to the afterlife.

29. Santa's Surprise

With Beatrice's approval, Nicholas prepares a surprise present for Santa. Santa quickly realizes that some secret scheming is going on at the factory. Thinking it was a spy, he discovers that it's Nicholas, who uses the opportunity to give Santa his surprise present, which he'd prepared just in time with the help of Beatrice and the elves.

28. The Present Monster

When Nicholas was a child at an orphanage, he dreamed of having a real family and eventually convinced his friend Michael to have Mr. and Mrs. Rosier adopt him. Now that Nicholas lives at Christmas House, he gradually learns that Santa, Beatrice and the elves make up a family too - it's out of the ordinary, but a family all the same.

During a training session, Nicholas discovers he lacks the patience required to deal with the problems he might face later on. Luckily, Santa knows a little trick that will allow Nicholas to relax when he finds himself in a difficult situation. And when some tourists make an emergency landing on an ice bank, Nicholas learns to relax and smile with the tourists.

25. Father Christmas

What if Santa was Nicholas' father? Nicholas believes it may be true since Santa loves him like a father. When challenged to a video game, Santa chooses Nicholas to be his apprentice because he is the one with the highest score.

24. All Those Little Details

November 1, 2006

Nicholas is keen to leave his "mark" during his time as Santa and tests the idea of breathing new life into those little details that make Christmas tradition - tree, fairy lights, costumes and the like. He is horrified to discover that without all those little details, Christmas is not really Christmas. Later, when Nicholas realizes this, he invites Santa to a Sedna festival.

23. The Old Magician

Maurice, the son of Santa's best childhood friend, arrives at the North Pole. He's an old magician who loves his job. Though Santa hasn't the heart to tell Maurice it's time to hang up his wand.

22. The Mobile

Letters from young parents are pouring into Santa's house, asking for the musical mobile Santa brought them when they were little. When Beatrice and Santa are hiding something, Nicholas investigates to find out the truth.

21. The Infernal Goatskin

November 1, 2006

When Nicholas unintentionally sets the snow monster free, it immediately unleashes a ferocious snow storm. Santa, who has set off along the ice bank to pick up a delivery of spare parts, is trapped in the middle of the snow storm. Thanks to his friends and his own courage, Nicholas manages to overpower the monster and save Santa.

19. Memory of Christmas

Engrossed in his favorite pastime, Santa is busy creating a new toy when his invention explodes in his face. Nicholas comes to the rescue and discovers that the shock has given Santa amnesia: he is now convinced he is eight years old. Nevertheless, Nicholas along with Waldorf, Rufus, Tim-Tim and Nic-Nac do their absolute best to get Santa's memory back.

18. Snowed Under!

Nicholas is snowed in: between school, the Factory and his apprenticeship. If only he had a magic wand to do everything. To test him, Santa gives Nicholas a magic formula that does the work without him knowing about it. Nicholas passes the test and gives up magic all by himself.

17. And Afterwards?

Worried that Santa might take an early retirement, Nicholas finds a way to take his mind off things - sorting old letters to Santa in the attic. He discovers that for years, an adult has been pretending to be a child and is still receiving toys. Nicholas goes to the island and finds out that the impostor resembles Santa.

16. Blushing Beatrice

Who is this mysterious Alexandra whom nobody knows, but who has been receiving letters? Who sneaks into the Factory at night to sew beautiful dresses? Nicholas and Humphrey investigate as they discover that Alexandra and the mysterious seamstress are none other than: Beatrice Lovejoy. She is afraid she will be left alone when Santa retires so she has decided to meet Prince Charming.

15. Stardust

Nicholas and Santa are collecting stardust from the aurora borealis. This rare and precious dust creates magical chimneys. After school, Nicholas accidentally spills the magic dust, endangering Nic-Nac and Tim-Tim's lives. Luckily, with the help of Santa, Nicholas has more than one trick up his sleeve to save his friends and gathers more stardust for Christmases to come.

14. The Big Exam

Nicholas is old enough to take the test of the Golden Reindeer. In the middle of the night, he and Waldorf must set out on a search for a mysterious tree that only grows on the other side of the ice sea. He must weave his first Christmas basket from its branches, which will be examined by the Council of the Wise Men. They will decide if he qualifies for his Golden Reindeer.

13. The Secret Door

November 1, 2006

While Santa's away, Nicholas tries to perfect his Christmas laugh which must be different from his normal laugh. Despite being told not to, he opens a mysterious door and lets out the Trubblies - elves that break toys instead of making them. With the help of Santa, he learns his traditional Christmas laugh is the one that will solve the problem.

12. Garland Spray

November 1, 2006

The ice bank has been warming up, putting Santa's Village in grave danger. Nicholas suspects that some strange orange clouds are causing the ice to melt and he follows the trail all the way back to Italy to discover the source of the pollution: a factory that makes "garland spray." Nicholas must stop the pollution with the help of Rufus, in order to bring the factory back to the way it was.

11. First Hat-Bell Exam

November 1, 2006

During his chimney-climbing exam, Nicholas gets stuck and panics. Afterwards, he gets anxious and breaks out in a cold sweat just looking at a chimney. During an unexpected event at the toy factory, Nicholas has the opportunity to cure himself in order to pass the exam.

10. Never Happy

Elea, a spoiled little girl, says she's not happy with her latest Christmas presents. When Nicholas falls out of the sleigh as it flies over New York, he finds himself trapped with Elea in one of the infamous blocked chimneys. After Nicholas manages to climb out of the chimney with Elea, she realizes that the present she most needs is a friend: Nicholas.

9. The Greatest Secret

How does Santa deliver all his presents in one night? He refuses to let Nicholas in on his secret. Frustrated, Nicholas decides to discover the truth by himself. He finds a secret map indicating a mysterious place hidden somewhere on the ice bank.

8. Nicholas in Charge

November 1, 2006

Santa and Beatrice go away on a holiday leaving Nicholas in charge to manage the toy factory for a week. The elves are depressed since they didn't receive morning kisses from Beatrice. But eventually, with help of Tim-Tim and Nic-Nac's mother, the elves cheer themselves up and finish their work before Santa and Beatrice return.

7. Santa's Within

November 1, 2006

Santa wants to buy the fully automatic sleigh that belongs to a bullying boss who's on safari at the North Pole. Eventually, Nicholas manages to unmask the so-called baron, a former circus lion tamer, who set out to swindle Santa.

6. Plumped Up for Christmas

November 1, 2006

Nicholas doesn't want to become as plump as previous Santas. He tries to persuade Santa that delivering presents would be easier if he ate less. Santa won't listen - until the day he gets stuck in a chimney. Santa must go on a diet, but he has plans to dodge the diet and continue to stuff himself in secret.

5. Nobody's Perfect

Nicholas is confronted with a dangerous rival: Pierrot, the son of the Bogey Man.

4. He Doesn't Exist

The manager of a toyshop launches a successful campaign to convince people believe Santa doesn't exist. Nicholas kidnaps the manager to bring him to Beatrice so she can reconnect him with his childhood and Santa.

3. A Long Night

Maurice, the son of Santa's best childhood friend, arrives at the North Pole. He's an old magician who loves his job. Though Santa doesn't have the heart to tell Maurice it's time to hang up his wand.

2. Nicholas' Present

Nicholas is depressed because he thinks he may never receive another Christmas present. Santa prepares a surprise present of an old-fashioned toy that he enjoyed in his childhood.

1. What If It's Not Me?

At first it's not so easy to learn Santa's job. Nicholas realizes this and doubts whether he is up to the task as he worries that he might have to go back to Australia. On the way, Nicholas get caught up in a giant snowstorm that leads him to discover who he really is as well as his true desire to become Santa's Apprentice.
