In the second episode of Shakespeare and Hathaway: Private Investigators season 3, titled "See Thyself, Devil," Frank and Lu are hired by a local church to investigate the theft of a painting. The painting, an old and valuable piece of art depicting a devil, was stolen from the church's collection and replaced with a fake one. The church’s choir director, known for his practical jokes, is a prime suspect, but Frank and Lu believe there may be more to the case than meets the eye.
While investigating the case, Frank and Lu soon discover that the painting has a cursed history. Legend has it that anyone who looks at the painting in the eyes of the devil depicted in it will be cursed by the devil himself. When a member of the church choir falls ill with symptoms that match the supposed curse, Frank and Lu begin to investigate the idea of a curse, and whether or not it could be the reason for the theft and the illness.
As they delve deeper into the case, Frank and Lu encounter various church members, each with their own secrets and motives. They soon find themselves trying to figure out who would want to steal the painting and why. Along the way, they also begin to uncover a possible connection between the stolen painting and a long-lost treasure hidden somewhere in the countryside.
As the investigation progresses, Frank and Lu find themselves working against the clock to solve the case before the church burns down in what appears to be a catastrophic accident. With time running out, and the curse of the devil looming over their heads, it's up to Frank and Lu to put the pieces of the puzzle together and catch the thief before it's too late.
