In "Dunces and Dragons," the second episode of SpongeBob SquarePants: On the Road season 1, SpongeBob and his friends find themselves transported to medieval times -- specifically, to a place in which knights slay dragons and save damsels in distress. In their new surroundings, SpongeBob is dubbed the "Great and Brave Sir SpongeBob," while Patrick is given the title of "Squire." The gang quickly realizes that they have no idea how to function in these ancient times, but they decide to play along in hopes of finding a way back home.

Their adventure takes a turn when Patrick accidentally swallows the key to the time machine that brought them to the past, and they must find a way to retrieve it before it's too late.
