Katie is struggling to keep her life together in the fourth episode of Striking Out season 1. The episode opens with a frantic phone call from Katie's father, who is getting married that day and needs Katie to stand in as second witness. Katie rushes to the courthouse only to be delayed by a literal roadblock -- a parade has closed off the street, and she's stuck in traffic.
When she finally arrives, she's too late -- her father and his new wife have already tied the knot. Katie is disappointed, but her day is about to get much worse. She catches a glimpse of Vincent with another woman, and she suspect he's been cheating on her. She confronts him, but he denies everything, claiming that the woman was a colleague and that he's been working all night.
Katie doesn't know what to believe, but it's clear that her relationship with Vincent is in trouble. She's distracted at work and makes a mistake that could cost her client a lot of money. Fortunately, her new co-worker, Ray, is there to support her and help her salvage the situation. Ray is kind and supportive, and Katie is starting to warm up to him.
Meanwhile, Katie's friend and colleague, Tara, is dealing with her own problems. Tara's boyfriend, Sam, is in trouble with the law, and Tara is torn between her loyalty to Sam and her duty to her job. Sam begs Tara to represent him, but she's not sure if she's ready to risk her career for him.
As the episode unfolds, Katie and Tara both confront their fears and their own limitations. Katie begins to realize that she may have been too quick to judge Vincent, and Tara decides to take a risk and represent Sam in court. It's a tense and dramatic episode, full of emotional twists and turns.
