In “Trese” Season 1 Episode 1, we are introduced to the world of Manila, a city where supernatural beings exist alongside humans. Our protagonist, Alexandra Trese, is a female detective who has been tasked with maintaining the delicate balance between the two groups.
As the opening scene unfolds, we see a group of young men being attacked by a group of mysterious creatures in the middle of the night. The situation takes a turn for the worse when one of the young men is brutally killed. This sets the stage for the rest of the episode as Trese is brought in to investigate the incident.
We learn that this is just one of many similar incidents that have been occurring all over Manila. Trese works alongside her team of supernatural beings to solve the case. Her team includes the well-known duo, the Kambal, who are twin bodyguards that are fiercely loyal to Trese.
As Trese dives deeper into the case, she uncovers a sinister plot by the creatures to take over the city. She faces resistance from both the human and supernatural communities as she tries to prevent this from occurring. Trese’s investigation leads her to a group of renegade creatures who have been committing these crimes.
At the same time, Trese faces her own internal struggles as she struggles with the weight of her role in keeping peace between the supernatural and human communities. She has to balance her responsibilities to both communities while also trying to keep her team safe.
The animation style is unique, with a mix of hand-drawn and digital elements that create a dark and gritty atmosphere. The voice acting is also top-notch, with Liza Soberano bringing a strong and confident performance as the voice of Trese.
