Ep 2. City Council

The second episode of What We Do in the Shadows season 1 is named "City Council." In this episode, the vampires prepare for an important event in their supernatural community, the annual Unholy Masquerade. The preparation involves a hearing with the City Council in order to obtain a permit for this event. However, Guillermo, the familiar of the leader of the vampire house, Nandor, has concerns about a possible threat to their existence. He believes that having a big event like the Unholy Masquerade might attract unwanted attention from vampire hunters.

Meanwhile, Nandor, Laszlo, Nadja, and their new vampire neighbor, Colin Robinson, debate about how they should behave at the City Council hearing. Colin Robinson believes that they should present themselves as modern, civilized creatures and convince the City Council to grant them the permit. Nandor, on the other hand, thinks they should appeal to the Council's fear of their supernatural power and convince them to grant the permit out of fear.

As the vampires prepare for the hearing, they encounter various obstacles. Nadja worries about her relationship with a human, Jenna, and tries to figure out how to handle it. Meanwhile, Laszlo, who has a history with the leader of the City Council, tries to play nice with her in order to gain her favor.

The hearing itself proves to be a challenge for the vampires. The City Council is initially hostile towards them, and Guillermo's concerns about vampire hunters prove to be more relevant than they initially thought. However, Nandor's proposed solution to their problem turns out to be a big success, and the council is left with no choice but to grant them the permit.

Overall, episode 2 of What We Do in the Shadows season 1 is filled with plenty of comedic moments and continues to develop its supernatural lore. It also sets up future plot points, particularly in regard to the vampire hunters that Guillermo is concerned about.
