Mean Girls 2 is a drama and romance film that takes on a similar story of the original Mean Girls starring Lindsay Lohan. The girls in this movie stars Maiara Walsh, Jennifer Stone, and Meaghan Jette Martin. All three very well play their parts very well. The film was considered as horrible compared to the original film, but it was still given a great respect from several viewers since the film didn't try to release it via the theaters, but instead on direct to DVD.
Jo is the name of Meaghan's character, and she easily comes into the school as the tomboy. She is a girl who is out there just to enjoy her life. She meets a young boy along her school journey, only to find out that the boy she likes is the ex boyfriend of one of the main plastics, who is played by Maiara. The story then takes a drastic turn with Jo trying to fight back to Maiara's character. The film and story is very well thought out, and many people thought that the film just didn't portray the story good enough. The plot was very professionally written, but again, the delivery of the film is what most people thought the directors and producers lacked in.
The film received a very bad review from Entertainment Weekly. Hillary Busis recalled the film as a "thinly-veiled version of the original film and was obviously a low budget movie. The movie was not scored on Rotten Tomatoes, but it still received a great number of respect among viewers when it was shown on television. It was the number 1 movie in the week having viewers among the ages of 12-34 when it premiered on television. It is definitely a film that is worth watching.
Mean Girls 2 is a very dramatic film that goes into all kinds of lifestyles that many teenages everyday have to deal with at school. It is highly difficult to have to deal with such problems at times as a teenager, so kids of all ages that are currently in high school or junior high will find the film comforting to watch. If you are interested in watching a film that delivers nearly the same story in a better way, then it is highly recommended that you watch the original Mean Girls. It is worth the time to watch the original, but part 2 is still a good watch if you don't expect it to beat out the original.
