Ann Curry Will Replace Meredith Vieira as Co-Host on 'The Today Show'

Ann Curry Will Replace Meredith Vieira as Co-Host on 'The Today Show' After 14 years of reading the news for "Today Show" fans, Ann Curry will finally get her permanent seat at the news desk.

Last week Yidio reported whispers of the impending host switch-a-roo.The New York Times is now reporting that NBC will announce the anchor shuffle in a press conference today. Curry will be promoted to the co-host spot, opposite Matt Lauer, in place of Meredith Vieira.

Vieira has been greeting viewers from the helm for the past 5 years after she left "The View." Apparently she will leave the show by choice, opting to spend more time with her ailing husband and family.

Rumors swirled that Curry, 54, might replace Katie Couric who just announced she would be leaving her anchor position on the CBS evening news. There is still no official announcement from CBS as to who will replace Couric but "60 Minutes" correspondent Scott Pelley is a top candidate for the position.

Also involved in the seat swapping are Natalie Morales, a 9 a.m. anchor on "Today," who will take over Curry's current role and Savannah Guthrie, a White House correspondent, who is expected to move into the 9 a.m. role.

Reports say Curry will take over for Vieira as early as next month and rumor has it Lauer may also be leaving the show when his contract is up. Perhaps Lauer will join Couric on her rumored new talk show?

Do you think Curry is a good replacement for Vieira on the hit news show?
