Watch The View

The View is a daytime talk and entertainment television show that airs on the American Broadcasting Company's affiliate stations across the country and on partner stations across the world. The show was conceived by Barbara Walters, who also co-hosts The View, and ABC co-executive producer Bill Geddie. Debuting on August 11th, 1997, The View has been praised for its promotion of women in both media and culture.

The general format of the show consists of a panel of female co-hosts who discuss general interest topics such as national news, health and more. During most shows, the panel will interview a guest, or a guest will co-host the entire show. Guests tend to be celebrities, political figures, charity organization representatives and newsworthy individuals.

Currently, the show is co-hosted by Joy Behar, Sherri Shepard, Elizabeth Hasselbeck and Barbara Walters, although Walters serves as co-executive producer and is only included as a part-time co-host. Additionally, Whoopi Goldberg serves as the show's discussion moderator. In the past, The View's panel has also included notable co-hosts Rosie O'Donnell, Lisa Ling, Star Jones and Meredith Vieira.

Throughout its run, The View has been known for tackling controversial subjects, such as America's foreign policy, gay rights, drug use and race relations. As a result, various members of the show's panel have had very animated and emotional on-air arguments, with some even resulting in panel members walking off of the show in mid-broadcast. One notable example of this behavior involved an argument between Bill O'Reilly, Joy Behar and Whoopi Goldberg, ultimately resulting in Behar and Goldberg leaving in the middle of a segment.

The View has received critical acclaim for its approach to the daytime talk format and has gone on to be nominated for various awards, including Emmy Awards, People's Choice Awards, NAACP Image Awards and more. The show has won Daytime Emmy Awards for "Outstanding Talk Show" and "Favorite Talk Show" in 2003 and 2009. Most recently, The View has been nominated for "Best Talk Show" by the Broadcast Television Journalists Association for the 2012 Critic's Choice Television Awards.

Rosie O'Donnell Might Rejoin 'The View' After Controversial Exit 7 Years Ago

There's been a lot of casting talk concerning "The View," but we're still surprised to hear about this. Rosie O'Donnell is reportedly considering a return to the show, according to a source close to "The View." The speculation is interesting, considering the fact that Rosie used to be a panelist on the show before exiting about seven years ago after some public verbal sparring matches against then co-host Elisabeth Hasselbeck.  I didn't want to argue for a living," Rosie told Oprah Winfrey in an intervew after her exit.

Elisabeth Hasselbeck Bids 'The View' Farewell [VIDEO]

After many rumors, it has finally come true. Elisabeth Hasselbeck has officially announced her departure of “The View”. “Today is officially my last day at ‘The View’ and for a decade, I’ve been able to work efficiently at this table only because, and I mean this with my whole heart, that everyone behind the scenes worked more efficiently.” However, things will not end there for her. Her hosting career is just beginning. She has landed a new co-hosting gig on Fox News Channel’s “Fox & Friends”, eventually set to replace the current host Gretchen Carlson.

Elisabeth Hasselbeck Not Being Fired from 'The View'

Fret not, folks, Elisabeth Hasselbeck is staying on “The View”. After Joy Behar announced her intentions to leave, rumors began to fly wildly that Elisabeth was being fired as well. Executive Producer and co-host of “The View” Barbara Walters made an announcement at the beginning of Monday’s show, dismissing any and all rumors of Elisabeth Hasselbeck’s departure and of her being fired, despite them being so widely reported. “There is a particularly false story that keeps getting picked up about Elisabeth’s alleged departure, saying we don’t approve of her conservative views,” Walters said.

Elisabeth Hasselbeck Fired From 'The View!'

Elisabeth Hasselbeck will not be returning to “The View” next season. ABC confirms that Hasselbeck is taking her leave of the show, on which she has provided the conservative viewpoint for ten years. Hasselbeck reportedly was not invited back due to low ratings and negative responses from audiences. Viewers found her opinions (which often clashed with other members of the show) “too extreme and right-wing.” “People did not watch the show because of Elisabeth,” said an insider from the show.

Barbara Walter Recovering From Head Injury

Barbara Walters is in recovery for a head injury—but don’t panic about who will take her “View” slot just yet. The 83-year-old fell and cut her head while visiting the Ambassador's residence Saturday night in Washington, D.C. She was scheduled to cover tomorrow’s presidential inauguration events, but instead will be taking time to recover. "Barbara Walters fell on a stair last evening while visiting the British Ambassador's residence and the fall left her with a cut on her forehead," explains said Jeffrey Schneider, senior vice president of ABC News.

Mayim Bialik vs. 'The View'

“Big Bang Theory” star Mayim Bialik got her last laugh in after the ladies of “The View” made some rather unflattering suggestions about why the star might be divorcing from her husband of nine years, Michael Stone. These include hints that her parenting style put too much strain on the marriage. Bialik is a firm believer in a unique approach to raising her children that means continuing to breast feed her four-year-old son, and insisting the entire family sleep together in the same bed on the floor.
