  • In an effort to recover from his Thanksgiving catastrophe, Cam decides to treat the family to a New Year's Day feast. Upon his realization that Cam's recent attempt is also a complete fail, Mitch tries to save the day by using a "concierge gift card" that he received as a Christmas gift. Cam soon discovers that the concierge is none other than his ex-boyfriend (Kelsey Grammar).

  • Manny and Luke are desperate to avoid a catastrophe following a texting mistake. Meanwhile, Claire, Gloria, Mitchell and Cameron volunteer to help at the fancy holiday gala at school and Claire and Gloria try to play matchmaker.

  • In the eighth season premiere, the three families have just returned from their respective travels and decide to get together to celebrate Father's Day.

  • Manny persuades the family to take the train to Dede's wedding. Jay is thrilled that Dede has moved on for good but his overenthusiasm could come back to haunt him.

  • Mitch helps Luke with his "promposal" while Cam helps Manny, but Cam's actions suggest there is something deeper going on.

  • Claire finds a stray dog and convinces the kids to help her hide it from Phil until she finds its owner. Unfortunately, her behavior draws Phil's attention.

  • Phil gets spontaneous and plans a vacation to Paris with Claire, the only problem is that they are both exhausted.   • Phil tries to keep it under wraps that he has a hot new client. On the other hand, Claire also has something to hide.

  • Claire has figured out how to balance running Jay's closet business and meeting the demands at home, which leaves Phil feeling frustrated. Unbeknownst to him, Claire has a secret weapon called a personal assistant.

  • A huge thunder storm takes outs the power and the whole family congregates at Jay and Gloria's to use their generator, but Jay is trying his hardest to escape to a reunion with some old Navy buddies.
