In the year 1970, a group of 12 astronauts from various countries are selected to embark on a mission to the moon. The group includes Americans, Russians, French, German, Brazilian, Japanese, Chinese, and Italian astronauts. Their mission is to explore the moon and set up a new moonbase. The journey to the moon takes several weeks, during which the crew faces various challenges, including mechanical failures and interpersonal conflicts. The American captain, John Anderson (Ken Clark), tries to keep the mission on track and maintain harmony among the crew.
