September 1st, 1939. German battleship Schleswig-Holstein marks the start of World War II by firing on the garrison stationed at the Westerplatte peninsula in Poland. Over the next seven days, fewer than two hundred soldiers stand in defiance at against the relentless onslaught at the banks of Westerplatte as the Nazis invade Poland. Amidst the bloodshed, two Polish commanders struggle with the decision to continue fighting despite overwhelming odds, or surrender to the forces of tyranny.
