"A Study in Terror" (1965) is a British thriller that pits Sherlock Holmes against Jack the Ripper. Although it uses Conan Doyle's characters, it is not based on any of his short stories. Unlike the actual case, Holmes does reveal the Ripper's true identity. He also has to contend with blackmail and an insane family.
