A Very Bad Cop, released in 2010, is a crime thriller film directed by Stephen Reynolds. The movie stars Billy Zane as Rod, a corrupt police officer who is involved in drug trafficking, money laundering, and various other illegal activities. James DuMont plays Frank Sullivan, another police officer who is assigned to keep an eye on Rod's activities, while Robin Givens plays Rod's wife, Brenda.

The movie opens with a scene in which Rod, the main character, is seen indulging in illegal activities with his group of accomplices, who include other corrupt police officers and drug dealers. They are seen making a large exchange of cash and drugs, which gives the viewers a glimpse of the sort of corrupt activities that the protagonist is involved in. Rod seems to be living it up, flaunting his wealth and status, enjoying the luxuries that his illegal activities have provided him.

Meanwhile, Frank Sullivan is assigned to investigate Rod. He is initially a bit skeptical of Rod's actions, but soon discovers that he is involved in some serious illegal activities, as he sees Rod indulging in drug use and meeting with known criminals. Frank is determined to bring Rod to justice, even if it means putting his own life at risk.

The movie then follows the dangerous game of cat and mouse that ensues between these two opposing characters. Frank tries every trick in the book to catch Rod, including secretly recording his conversations, following him around, and planting bugs in his home. Rod, on the other hand, is a smart and experienced criminal who knows how to cover his tracks and stay one step ahead of Frank.

As the story unfolds, we see other characters come into play, such as Brenda, the wife of Rod, who is unaware of her husband's illegal activities, but suspects something is amiss. She is a doting wife who wants the best for her husband and is initially protective of him, but when she discovers the truth, she finds herself in a difficult and dangerous situation.

Another key character in the film is a drug dealer named Fat Tony, who is one of Rod's accomplices. He is played by the late Michael Clarke Duncan, who brings a certain gravitas to the role. He is a larger-than-life character who is feared by everyone, including Rod. Fat Tony adds a layer of complexity to the story, as his actions have a direct impact on the fate of the other characters.

One of the strengths of the movie is its pacing. The director does a good job of keeping the story moving forward at a brisk pace, never giving the audience a chance to get bored. The tension is palpable, and there are several thrilling action sequences that keep the viewers at the edge of their seats.

The performances of the lead actors are another strength of the movie. Billy Zane is convincing as the corrupt cop who is brought down by his own hubris. James DuMont is excellent as the dedicated police officer who will stop at nothing to bring Rod to justice. Robin Givens' portrayal of Brenda is also noteworthy, as she adds an emotional dimension to the story, making the audience empathize with her character.

Overall, A Very Bad Cop is an engaging crime thriller that keeps the audience hooked till the very end. With its strong performances, taut pacing and thrilling action, it is a must-watch for fans of the genre.
