Scenes are recreated using still shots from the life of Schweitzer, in addition to his real-life grandson portraying him as well. The second half of the motion picture portrays what an amazing and caring doctor he was in his adult life. Schweitzer focused his drive and passion towards aiding anyone who needed attention in French Equatorial Africa.
