Babruvahana is a 1964 Telugu mythological movie directed by P. Pullaiah and starring N.T. Rama Rao, Chalam, and Kanta Rao. The plot is based on the incident from the epic Mahabharata where Arjuna's son, Babruvahana, unknowingly kills his own father in a battle. The film begins with Babruvahana (N.T. Rama Rao) ruling his kingdom and being a righteous king who deeply respects his father, Arjuna (Kanta Rao), for his immense bravery, valor, and skills as a warrior. One day, a group of Gandharvas, the celestial singers and dancers, come to Babruvahana's palace to perform. Among them is Princess Madri (Savitri), who Babruvahana develops feelings for.

After the performance, Madri reveals that she is the daughter of the king of Gandharva Kingdom and has come to Babruvahana's kingdom to marry him as she is charmed by his valor and leadership skills. Babruvahana leaves for Gandharva Kingdom with Madri to meet her father and ask for his daughter's hand in marriage.

On the way, Babruvahana encounters some enemies who challenge him to a battle. Unbeknownst to Babruvahana, among his enemies is his father, Arjuna, who has taken the guise of a warrior named Brihannala. A fierce battle ensues, and in the end, Babruvahana kills Brihannala unknowingly, not realizing that his own father was the man he had slain.

Upon realizing what he had done, Babruvahana is devastated, and his guilt leads him to set out on a journey of self-discovery to find the truth about his own identity and the reason for his father's disguise. He is accompanied by his wife, Madri, who is equally determined to help her husband in his quest for the truth.

Throughout their journey, the couple encounters numerous obstacles and challenges that test their love, trust, and faith in each other. They meet a sage named Chyavana (Chalam), who becomes their guide and mentor, and helps them navigate through the difficulties they face.

The film culminates in a dramatic and emotional confrontation between Babruvahana and his father, where the truth about his identity is finally revealed. In the end, Babruvahana gains wisdom, knowledge, and understanding about life and death, and his love for his father remains undiminished despite the tragedy that had occurred.
