Baby Blues is a 2008 horror thriller film that follows the life of a young couple named Alice and Dan who recently moved into a new home with their infant son, Finn. As days pass, Alice begins to experience strange events and sudden mood changes that lead her to believe something is amiss. Initially, Dan tries to comfort her, but as Alice's behavior worsens, he begins to suspect that she might have Postpartum Depression.
Alice’s condition begins to deteriorate, and she becomes increasingly violent and hostile towards herself and those around her. She starts to isolate herself from Dan and rejects the idea of seeking medical help for her symptoms. Dan is left with the responsibility of taking care of their child while trying to keep Alice’s erratic behavior under control.
However, things take an ominous turn when Alice starts to behave in a way that alarms Dan. One night, he discovers that she has been neglecting their baby and has left him alone in the tub, which nearly led to his drowning. Fearing for their child’s safety, Dan decides to take Finn away from Alice and enlist the help of her mother, Joan, to take care of their baby.
As Alice's mental and emotional state continues to deteriorate, she becomes increasingly convinced that something supernatural is happening to her and that she is losing her mind. She visits a psychic, who tells her that a dark entity is targeting her family and wants to take her baby away from her. As Alice becomes more paranoid, she starts to have hallucinations that only fuel her fears.
The tension in the family reaches a boiling point when Joan is found murdered in Alice’s room. She is the latest victim of the house that the couple moved into. Alice's husband is convinced that she's responsible for the murder, but she vehemently denies it, claiming that the malevolent presence that had been haunting them had killed her mother.
Dan starts an investigation to unravel the mystery of the house's dark history, and his discoveries lead him to realize that Alice's fears are based on reality. The house has a malevolent history, and the presence within it is committed to taking Finn from them. Dan and Alice must band together to confront the malevolent entity wreaking havoc in their home and putting their family in danger.
In the end, Baby Blues is a gripping horror movie that explores the delicate subject of postpartum depression and how it can lead to different outcomes when left untreated. It is a chilling and deeply disturbing film that tells a dark story about love, loss, and family, while keeping its viewers on the edge of their seats throughout. The cast, especially Melina Scrofano, does an exceptional job of conveying the film's tension and eerie atmosphere.
