As the second installment to the Oblivion movie series, Backlash: Oblivion 2 reunites audiences with the gunslinging cowboy, Zack Stone, played by Richard Joseph Paul. Set in a futuristic world where cowboys and aliens coexist, the film picks up after the events of its predecessor. This time, Zack Stone finds himself on a mission to save his hometown from a group of sadistic aliens who are determined to wipe out the entire human race.

The movie opens with a thrilling chase scene as Zack rides through the barren wastelands, hot on the heels of a group of outlaws. With his trusty revolver in hand, he expertly shoots their tires, causing their hoverbikes to tumble and explode in spectacular fashion. Although he manages to take down his quarry, Zack soon learns that the real threat to his town is yet to come.

He returns to Oblivion only to find that a Tylon Corporation research facility has been destroyed and a group of aliens has started to attack the human population. Unlike the previous movie, where the aliens were shown as a peaceful, almost alien-like race, this time they are portrayed as bloodthirsty monsters, with sharp claws and teeth. Zack's love interest, Sheriff Claire, played by Jackie Swanson, who was also present in the first movie, is the one who informs him about the situation. She tells him that the aliens are after an experimental serum that could make them invincible. The serum was being developed by Tylon Corporation and was stored in the facility, which is now destroyed.

The Tylon Corporation's representative, Lena, played by Denise Loveday, urges Zack to retrieve the serum before the aliens do. Lena is revealed to be a traitor who's working with the aliens and is secretly trying to get her hands on the serum for her overlords. Zack is aided in his quest by another gunslinger named Doc Valentine (played by Andrew Divoff). Together, they make an unlikely duo, with Zack being the easygoing cowboy and Doc being a wizened scientist with a robotic arm.

As Zack and Doc set out to retrieve the serum, they encounter several obstacles, the most significant one being the fact that the aliens can disguise themselves as humans. This leads to several intense confrontations, as Zack and Doc have to use all their wits to differentiate between the real and the fake. They also encounter a group of rebels who want to rid the town of the alien threat but are undermanned and underequipped.

Meanwhile, Sheriff Claire leads the human resistance and tries to slow down the alien advance as much as possible. The aliens are led by a menacing overlord, Malakai, played by Musetta Vander, who's determined to get the serum at all costs. She is a force to be reckoned with, and her mere presence makes the audiences sit at the edge of their seats.

The movie's climax includes a high-stakes shootout sequence as Zack, Doc, and the rebels go up against the aliens in a last-ditch attempt to save the town. The final battle is a visual spectacle, with impressive practical effects and some intense combat scenes. The fate of humanity rests on the outcome of this fight, and the audiences are left guessing until the last possible moment.

Overall, Backlash: Oblivion 2 is a thrilling action movie, with some elements of science fiction thrown in. It delivers on the promise of the first movie and takes things up a notch with its bigger set pieces and more complex storyline. The cast does an excellent job of portraying their respective characters, and the chemistry between Richard Joseph Paul and Andrew Divoff is particularly noteworthy. Although the movie could have benefitted from some better pacing, it's still an enjoyable watch for anyone who's a fan of the science fiction genre.

Backlash: Oblivion 2 is a 1996 science fiction movie with a runtime of 1 hour and 23 minutes. It has received mostly poor reviews from critics and viewers, who have given it an IMDb score of 4.9.
