Bonanza: Under Attack is a thrilling western film released in 1995 directed by Mark Tinker and written by Michael Landon Jr. The movie brings back the iconic Cartwright family, whom viewers would be familiar with from the popular television series "Bonanza" that aired from 1959 to 1973. Although the movie isn't a direct continuation of the show, it retains its spirit and tones that made the series a hit and incorporates some characters from the original cast. The film features a star-studded cast, including Ben Johnson, Michael Landon Jr., Emily Warfield, and Richard Roundtree.

The story takes place on the sprawling Ponderosa Ranch, which is situated in the Nevada territory. A group of freighters led by the devious Angus Clyde comes to the ranch to deliver a large shipment of mining equipment. The Cartwrights begrudgingly give in to the demands of Clyde and his men, and the delivery is made. However, things quickly take a turn for the worse as it becomes clear that the mine equipment was stolen from the government, which has put a price on it. Now, as a result, the Ponderosa Ranch is in danger of foreclosure and of losing to the US Treasury Department.

With the clock ticking and the future of their land and livelihood uncertain, the Cartwrights band together to do everything they can to save the ranch. They must deal with a group of ruthless government special agents, who are hell-bent on recovering the stolen equipment, and who will stop at nothing to reclaim it. Along with the government agents, the Ponderosa Ranch is also threatened by the terrifying gunslinger, Jack Mitchell, who has been hired by Angus Clyde to aid in the recovery of the stolen goods.

Despite the odds being stacked against them, the Cartwrights remain undaunted and committed to protecting their land and their family. They are prepared to outmaneuver and outshoot their enemies and will work tirelessly to recover the money needed to pay off their debt. Along the way, viewers are treated to a plethora of entertaining and action-packed sequences, including shootouts, horseback chases, and daring heists.

The movie showcases the enduring bonds of family, loyalty, and honor that are essential themes of the "Bonanza" franchise. It also highlights the importance of standing up for what is right and fighting for justice, no matter the odds. The acting in the film is impressive, with Ben Johnson delivering an outstanding performance as the patriarch of the Cartwright family. Michael Landon Jr. is excellent as Little Joe Cartwright, a role that his father, Michael Landon, played to great success in the original series. Emily Warfield is also a standout as Hoss' daughter, Ellie-Joe, a feisty and independent tomboy who provides much of the movie's comic relief.

Overall, Bonanza: Under Attack is a fantastic movie that will please fans of the original television series as well as those who are new to the franchise. It's a gripping Western film that is loaded with thrilling action, exciting plot twists, and endearing characters. If you're in the mood for a classic Western tale that delivers compelling storytelling, look no further than Bonanza: Under Attack.
