Powerhouse drummer and singer Buddy Miles, who died in February 2008, had played in bands since he was the age of twelve, in 1959. He later went on to play and record with some of the biggest names in progressive rock, blues and funk music, including Santana, John McLaughlin, The Electric Flag, Muddy Waters and Bootsy Collins. Buddy is probably best remembered for his association with Jimi Hendrix, playing on his 'Electric Ladyland' album as well as being a key member of Jimi's post-Experience group The Band of Gypsys - one of the first all-black rock bands.
