This 70s drama revolves around the Maya People and was the first fictional film ever documented to feature all dialogue in the Maya tongue. The film was written, directed and produced by Ronaldo Klein. The story follows a small and destitute village of Chiapas people who are struggling to survive a severe drought which has ravaged their lands. Many of the villagers have heard rumors of a mysterious shaman that lives somewhere deep in the jungle beyond their village. Soon some of the villagers raise the idea to their leader who flatly turns them down, saying he will not suffer a witch to enter his village. This decree leads a ragtag group of believes deep into the mysterious jungle to find the man who is said to be able to communicate with the very gods themselves.
