Chimera is a 2017 science-fiction movie that explores the ethical and moral dilemmas of genetic engineering. The film revolves around Quint, a brilliant but struggling scientist, who has devoted his life to saving his dying daughter, Lily. Quint is determined to find a way to save her, and his research leads him down a dangerous path of moral ambiguity.

In the film, Quint's research is focused on creating a synthetic DNA strand that can be injected into a living organism and begin producing more DNA, ultimately leading to cell regeneration. Though Quint's funding, and his sanity, are running low, he succeeds in developing a serum, which he tests on an injured rat. Astonishingly, the rat's injuries begin to heal themselves within minutes, and it becomes clear to Quint that his serum has enormous potential in the field of medicine.

However, things take a dark turn when Quint starts to test the serum on human subjects, starting with his daughter, Lily. She begins to show signs of improvement, but at a terrible cost: her body starts to mutate, and her once-normal functions become strange and unsettling. Quint becomes obsessed with healing her, and his methods become more and more unethical as he crosses ethical boundaries in his quest to save her. Soon, his methods become dangerous, as his experimentation has evolved into something much more sinister.

Quint's obsession with Lily's survival begins to threaten the lives of those around him as he starts to target those he feels might be able to offer some help. In particular, he becomes fixated on a young woman, named Beth, who has a rare genetic mutation that makes her immune to cellular damage. When Beth refuses to cooperate, Quint will stop at nothing to get what he wants.

The movie Chimera is an intense and thought-provoking film that explores the moral dilemma between science and ethics. The film's main themes are centered around the idea that science and technology are double-edged swords - on one hand, they can be used to cure disease and improve lives, but on the other, they can be turned into a weapon that threatens humanity.

The acting in the movie is well-done, particularly the performances of Alex Brock as Quint and Angela Dixon as Beth. Brock portrays Quint's increasing desperation and moral ambiguity with ease, while Dixon delivers just the right mix of vulnerability and grit that is needed for her role. Luke Dobson as Quint's colleague, and Christie-Luke Jones as his assistant also deliver solid performances, rounding out the film's primary cast.

The director, Maurice Haeems, does an excellent job of balancing the thriller and horror elements of the film without losing the emotional core of the story. The special effects are well-executed, and the film's unique visual style is consistently engaging.

In conclusion, Chimera is a thrilling and thought-provoking science-fiction movie that explores the moral and ethical implications of modern science. The story is dark and intense, but it is also engaging and emotionally resonant, making it a must-watch for fans of sci-fi thrillers.
