In Christmas by Starlight, which premiered in 2020, we meet two lawyers: lawyer-at-heart, lawyer-in-fact and self-proclaimed “Queen of Christmas” Carly (Kimberley Sustad), and self-assured Jack (Paul Campbell), whose parents own the firm. Their paths cross when Carly’s uncle passes away and leaves her his family farm in time for Christmas. Carly believes this is the perfect opportunity for her to start her Christmas tree business, but her dreams are shattered when Jack, the lawyer in charge of her uncle’s estate, informs her that the estate has a mortgage and that she will be forced to sell the farm.

Carly decides to fight back and goes against Jack, even if it means she has to take on some of Jack’s clients to make it happen, and Jack doesn’t hold back in arguing against Carly. As the two of them go head-to-head over the farm’s future, their opportunity to work together in a merger arises, forcing them to put their rivalry aside, partnering up for the benefit of both firms.

As the two of them work around the clock in preparation for the deal, Carly and Jack’s relationship deepens. They begin to see harmony, trust and affection in each other, and the attraction is undeniable. Despite the challenges, the two of them manage to keep everything together and stay ahead of the game. The only question is, whilst working side-by-side, can they keep their newfound love for each other under wraps, or will the tension lead to a full-blown office romance?

The movie‘s setting in a snowy winter wonderland provides the perfect backdrop for the holiday romance. Christmas by Starlight focuses heavily on the importance of family, tradition, and having an open heart. Along with gorgeous landscapes, viewers will also find the supporting characters to be a delightful addition to the main story, adding to the essence of the film.

Kimberley Sustad and Paul Campbell give the characters a much-needed dose of chemistry, adding to the build-up of their romance along the way. The two actors have worked together before on other films, and their familiarity with each other shows in their performances.

As Christmas by Starlight progresses, the story unfolds in a way that emphasizes the true meaning of Christmas. The film shows that this holiday is a time for family, seeing the good in people and being open to new beginnings. The theme of the movie is wrapped up in the need to rediscover hope and have faith, even when things look bleak.

Another facet that makes this movie a joy to watch is the heartfelt and touching performances by the ensemble cast. Brett Dalton does an excellent job playing Jack’s brother, Sam, and Christina Sicoli brings a lot of humor to the role of Carly’s sister, Nicky. And Darren Martens is a delight as the town Santa, adding a nice layer of whimsy to the story.

Christmas by Starlight is a heartwarming, fun and charming movie that is perfect for sharing with friends and family during the holiday season. It is not only a romantic comedy but a fantastic story about two people working together to build something meaningful. The chemistry between the two lead characters at opposite ends of the legal spectrum is undeniable, and their scenes together just sparkle.
