Christmas in the Heartland is a heartwarming Christmas movie that will make you appreciate the true meaning of the holiday season. The movie stars Sierra McCormick, Brighton Sharbino, and Bo Derek, who deliver excellent performances that will make you love them even more. This 2018 film is directed by Harvey Lowry and is written by Brian Godawa, George Saunders, and Rachel Stuhler.

The movie revolves around two teenage girls, Kara (Sierra McCormick) and Jessie (Brighton Sharbino), who are from two different states. Kara is from Kansas, and Jessie is from Los Angeles. They both come from different backgrounds and lead different lifestyles, but they share one thing in common: they are both adopted. And they both receive a surprise close to Christmas Day.

Kara and her brother Charlie (Christian Kane) live on a farm in Kansas with their parents (Shelley Long and Christopher Rich). Although they are not rich, they have a happy and contented life. On the other hand, Jessie lives a luxurious life in Los Angeles with her parents (Bo Derek and Patrick Muldoon), who own a successful business. Jessie is the queen bee of her school and has everything she could ever want, but she still feels empty inside.

The two girls meet at a food drive at their local grocery store and soon discover that they were both adopted as babies. They immediately hit it off and decide to switch places for the holiday season to discover more about their birth parents.

Things don't start off smoothly, though. At first, Kara isn't fond of Jessie's luxurious lifestyle, and Jessie finds it hard to adjust to life on a farm. However, as the days pass, they both start to learn more about each other's lives, and they realize that their birth mother is the same person: Samantha Riske (widely known as "The Angel of Adoption" in the community).

In their journey of discovery, they learn that Samantha Riske has recently passed away, but they discover a box left by her for them. In the box is a video that Samantha left for them, which tells them about their birth parents and begs them to get back together again. She reminds them that it's not about where you are from, but where you are going.

Kara and Jessie start to appreciate their differences and bond over their shared love for their birth mom in Samantha Riske. The bond grows stronger, and they enjoy the Christmas season together with their families both on the farm in Kansas and in Los Angeles. They come to the realization that the true meaning of Christmas is about family and love, and it doesn't matter how much you have or where you come from.

Overall, Christmas in the Heartland is a feel-good movie that teaches us the true essence of the holiday season. It's a beautifully crafted movie that showcases the journey of two teenage girls who bond over their love for their birth mother, despite their diverse backgrounds. The performances of Sierra McCormick, Brighton Sharbino, and Bo Derek are phenomenal, and they make the movie all the more enjoyable to watch. This movie is perfect for the whole family, and it is an excellent choice for a cozy Christmas evening.
