Close Your Eyes is a 2002 supernatural thriller film directed by Nick Willing and written by Willing and William Brookfield. The movie stars Goran Visnjic as Michael Strother, a hypnotherapist who is asked to help solve the case of a serial killer who is still at large. The prosecution team believe that the only witness to three brutal murders, a young girl who survived an attack, has the ability to psychically connect with the killer. However, the witness is unable to speak and is therefore unable to give the police any meaningful information to help catch the predator.

Michael Strother is a hypnotherapist who has had success in treating people with PTSD and other frightening experiences. He is approached by a former police officer, Janet Losey, who is now a prosecutor. Janet wants him to help with the case of the serial killer, who they believe to be caught if they can bring out the psychic abilities of the only witness, Heather. During their sessions, Michael uses hypnotic methods to help her remember her experience and identify the killer. These sessions help her remember the experience and try to identify the killer while being in a trance-like state.

As Michael delves deeper into the girl's psyche, he begins to experience terrifying visions of the killer's brutal methods. However, he is still skeptical of the whole psychic connection concept and is convinced that there must be a psychological explanation for the young girl's abilities. As he continues to work with the witness, he discovers that the case may have a connection with his past that he is not willing to accept.

As the case becomes more intense, Michael finds himself becoming increasingly attached to the young witness who seems to call to him in ways he can't understand. He also begins to experience nightmares and hallucinations that make him question his own sanity. The more he uncovers about the girl's psychic ability to connect with the killer, the more he realizes that the only way to stop him is to go through her.

Close Your Eyes is a well-structured supernatural thriller with plenty of scares and surprises. It's a movie that successfully balances the paranormal and the psychological in a way that keeps the audience engaged throughout. The pacing of the film is excellent, and the script is carefully crafted to balance the various elements of the story.

The performances in the movie are also strong, with Goran Visnjic successfully conveying Michael's skepticism and eventual acceptance of the psychic abilities of the witness. Paddy Considine gives a memorable performance as the troubled prosecutor with a hidden past that eventually comes to light. Shirley Henderson is also excellent in her portrayal of the mute witness, who conveys the terror of her experiences through body language and facial expressions.

The cinematography in the movie is outstanding, with the use of subdued lighting and dark tones adding to the suspenseful atmosphere of the film. The score is also effective, with a haunting piano melody that adds to the film's overall sense of dread.

Overall, Close Your Eyes is a highly effective supernatural thriller that will keep audiences on the edge of their seats. The movie does an excellent job of balancing the paranormal and psychological, with strong performances and expertly crafted suspenseful sequences. It's a movie that will stay with you long after the credits have rolled.
