Humphrey Bogart stars in the 1945 film "Conflict," a classic noir about a man twisted up in the web of a deadly love triangle. Directed by Curtis Bernhardt, this film features Bogart as Richard Mason, an unhappily married man who sets his sights on killing his wife, only to fall for his wife's younger sister instead. The story begins with Mason returning from a trip to South America to find that his wife Kathryn (Rose Hobart) has been having an affair with another man. Mason is consumed with jealousy and anger, and begins to plot his revenge against his cheating wife. But when he meets Kathryn's younger sister Evelyn (Alexis Smith), things take an unexpected turn.

As Mason and Evelyn slowly begin to fall in love, he realizes that he must go through with his plan to kill his wife if the two of them are to be together. But when Kathryn winds up dead in what appears to be an accidental drowning, Mason finds himself the prime suspect in her murder.

Enter Sydney Greenstreet as Markham, the shrewd detective who begins to dig deeper into the circumstances surrounding Kathryn's death. As the investigation unfolds, Mason must navigate a dangerous game of cat and mouse to prove his innocence and avoid being caught in a deadly trap.

Bogart brilliantly portrays the conflicted Mason, whose moral compass slowly erodes as he becomes more and more entangled in his own desires. The chemistry between Bogart and Smith is palpable, and the two share some memorable scenes together as their relationship grows increasingly complicated.

Greenstreet is also outstanding as the sly and cunning detective Markham, whose relentless pursuit of the truth adds an extra layer of tension to the film. The supporting cast is equally impressive, with standout performances from Rose Hobart as the duplicitous Kathryn and Charles Drake as Mason's best friend and confidant.

With its twists and turns, "Conflict" is a classic noir that keeps audiences guessing until the very end. The film explores themes of love, jealousy, and the dark side of human nature, and remains a timeless example of the genre to this day.

Conflict is a 1945 crime movie with a runtime of 1 hour and 25 minutes. It has received mostly positive reviews from critics and viewers, who have given it an IMDb score of 7.1.
