Cook County is a gritty American drama. Set in small town east Texas life it follows the lives of three men from one family. The movie starts off with Sonny (played by Xander Berekeley) who is just coming home from a two and a half year stint in prison. While he was gone his son Abe (played by Ryan Donowho) was living with his Grandfather and Uncle Bump (played by Anson Mount) in a small little shack in a remote area of town. Unbeknownst to Sonny his child, Abe, has been exposed to the hard ways of the drug methamphetamine and the life associated with producing and selling it. From what was his kitchen Bump has a makeshift meth lab where he produces and then sells to his drug obsessed neighbors. While dealing with the struggles of trying to get away from this mind controlling drug Abe must protect Deandra, Bumps six year old daughter. Sonny who is now clean from the hold of this drug begins the process of setting up a better life for himself and for his son Abe. Even while doing this he still finds himself getting tied with meth, though this time cooking it alongside his brother. As Bump continues to make more meth and becomes more delusional Sonny realizes he now must protect Abe and Deandra. As Sonny and Bump set up a drug deal and place it's contents in the hands of one Bumps cronies, fat Earl Sonny knows this is his chance to get the children out of this living situation. He takes them to stay with some family in another area of Texas as he reaches out to another drug source. While there Abe and Deandra are given a taste of what a quiet stable life is really like. Within a few days they have to return back to their home. Bump, who has become a monster faces his worst decision yet. As the ending unfolds it will keep you on the edge of your seat.
