Marcia's life in Jamaica is a difficult one, struggling to support her teenage daughter she is forced to accept the help of a local criminal, Larry. Her problems are made worse by her lack of money and the threat of violence from Priest, a local gangster who seems to have set his sights on Marcia as his next victim. Inventing a different persona is Marcia's only way out of the mess her life has become, she invents the Mystery Lady and embarks on a series of competitions in the Jamaican dance halls to win large cash prizes for dancing.
