Deadtime Stories: Vol. 2 is a 2011 horror anthology film that consists of three short horror stories. The film is directed by Michael Fischa, Jeff Monahan and Matt Walsh. The three tales in the movie are linked together by a creepy mortician played by horror legend George A. Romero. The first story, "The Gorge," follows a group of friends on a hiking trip who accidentally stumble upon a cave that seems to be cursed. The second story, "On Sabbath Hill," revolves around a young couple who move into a house with a dark history and find themselves battling supernatural forces. The final story, "Dust," is about a cleaning crew at a university who unwittingly unleashes an ancient evil.

Romero's character, the mortician, appears between each of the stories and serves as a sort of narrator. He tells each story to a group of children that are supposedly in his funeral home, but the stories are clearly not suitable for children, adding to the dark, eerie atmosphere of the movie.

Despite the anthology format, the stories all share a similar tone and feel which keeps the movie cohesive. The film is clearly aimed at horror fans who are looking for something eerie and atmospheric rather than full of gore and jump scares. The stories are all well-written and well-acted, with strong performances from the entire cast.

One of the strengths of the movie is the effective use of practical effects. The filmmakers clearly made an effort to use practical effects as much as possible, which gives the movie a classic horror vibe. While there are some instances of CGI, they are used sparingly and effectively.

Deadtime Stories: Vol. 2 is a definite improvement over the first film in the series, which was released in 1986. The first movie was a low-budget affair, while this one has a more polished look and stronger production values. While the first movie had some interesting ideas, it suffered from poor execution. This film, however, manages to deliver three solid horror stories that will satisfy fans of the genre.

Overall, Deadtime Stories: Vol. 2 is a well-made anthology horror movie that manages to deliver scares without relying on cheap jump scares or excessive gore. Fans of classic horror will appreciate the practical effects and eerie atmosphere, while casual horror fans may find themselves pleasantly surprised. The stories are all engaging and unique, and the presence of George A. Romero as a narrator only adds to the movie's appeal. While it may not be a classic of the genre, Deadtime Stories: Vol. 2 is definitely worth a watch for horror fans looking for something different.
