Death Rides the Range is a 1939 western movie that takes place in the contemporary United States. Ken Maynard plays the role of a rancher who is falsely accused of kidnapping the son of an important businessman. Along with his friend and sidekick Tarzan (played by a horse with the same name), they set out to clear their names and find the real kidnappers.

The movie opens with a peaceful montage of life on the range. We see cowboys herding cattle, horses galloping through fields, and a general sense of tranquility. However, this is quickly interrupted when we see the young son of a wealthy businessman being kidnapped in broad daylight. The kidnappers make their escape, leaving the boy's father to suspect that Ken Maynard is involved in the kidnapping.

Maynard plays the character of Bob Blake, a rancher who has been having some financial troubles. Despite this, he is an upstanding man who would never hurt a child. However, this does not stop the angry father from hiring a private detective to track down the kidnappers and bring them to justice. As Bob's innocence is called into question, he sets out to find the real culprits and clear his name.

Throughout the movie, Bob is aided by his trusty horse Tarzan. Tarzan may be a horse, but he is a smart and loyal companion. The movie is heavily reliant on comedy and animal stunts, with Tarzan often stealing the limelight from Maynard. Although Tarzan is a horse, he is given a character of his own, and the audience can't help but empathize with him.

As the plot thickens, Bob and Tarzan encounter a diverse set of characters. They meet a wealthy and powerful man who may know more than he's letting on, a group of criminals who seem to be involved in the kidnapping, and a young woman who becomes a love interest for Bob. The woman in question is played by Fay McKenzie, who brings a certain level of charm and grace to her role.

The movie is not all comedy and fluff, however. There are some serious scenes that deal with the crime of kidnapping and the consequences that come with it. As Bob and Tarzan get closer to the truth, they put themselves in danger and have to rely on their wits and bravery to make it out alive.

One of the standout features of this movie is the stunning cinematography. The western landscape is breathtakingly beautiful and the camera work does it justice. The movie uses some interesting camerawork techniques, such as slow-motion sequences and close-up shots of characters' faces. The music also plays an important role, capturing the mood of each scene perfectly.

Overall, Death Rides the Range is a fun and lighthearted western movie that has stood the test of time. The performances by Maynard, Tarzan, and McKenzie are memorable, and the story is engaging enough to keep the audience on the edge of their seats. If you're a fan of western movies, Death Rides the Range is definitely worth a watch.
