Eurotrip is a comedy picture in the time honored tradition of the road trip style movies. It is a movie which takes the cast and viewer to distant locales, presents them with unusual situations and brings laughs along the way. The movie deals with a young man named Scotty, who finds out the night of his graduation that his high school girlfriend has been cheating on him with the lead singer of a local band. The truth is revealed to him that night when the band debuts the song "Scotty doesn't know" which details their affair. When Scotty turns to his German pen pal, Mike for support, he gets a response which he misinterprets as a man hitting on him and he severs the link. His brother points out that the way the name is spelled is actually a common female name in Dutch and that Mike is not a man but rather Mieke is actually a girl. Scotty realizes he has only one chance to set this right, gathers his best friend and they set out on a journey to travel half a world to find love. Along the way they'll meet new friends, some old high school friends and one very creepy Italian traveler. It's a once in a lifetime opportunity to see Europe and find love. Featuring Michelle Trachtenberg and a cameo by Matt Damon, the movie does not have a lot of big names, but delivers on the promise of hijinx and misadventure in the name of finding true love. While critical reviews were mixed on the film, most agree it is a well written plot that keeps the viewer's interest. It utilized a team of three directors in a collaborative role, an uncommon tactic in movies. It was well received with audiences and grossed over 20 million dollars worldwide before its release on DVD.
