Excess Baggage is the story of a neglected rich teenager, Emily Hope, who hatches a plan to get attention from her father and away from his super busy schedule. Emily's plan was to fake her own kidnapping in order to get her father's attention; however, when the time comes to put her plan into effect everything goes completely wrong. While Emily had herself taped up and gagged in the trunk of her own luxury car, a car thief named Vincent Roche takes the car while unknowingly kidnapping Emily. When he discovers that the car he stole wasn't unoccupied, he is in a serious predicament. Feeling that her plan is going haywire, Emily begins to concoct more ways to get attention. Due to Alexander T. Hope always being too wrapped up in his business dealings to spend time with his daughter, Emily's behavior has become completely erratic leading to some very disturbing stunts, including burning the library at her school. Emily's uncle Raymond Perkins is the true caregiver to the teenager and at first assumes that the kidnapping is another attention grabbing stunt, but in reality Emily might be in over her depth. Things become worse when Greg Kistler goes on the lam after he and Vincent's hideout gets set on fire. This leaves two of Roche's and Kistler's business clients named Stick and Gus going after them, because of lost merchandise that was consumed in the fire. Emily must think quickly before everything crashes down.
