Jimmy Starks is a salesman and hustler who believes that success is around the corner. When his car stalls and he's forced to wait for repairs, he visits a local fortune teller named Vacaro on a whim. Vacaro tells Jimmy that he will see a windfall from Dallas, but that he's only safe until the first snow and then there will be no more roads, tomorrows or time.

Suddenly, his boss agrees to help him financially with a business venture, but Jimmy can't stop thinking about the first snow warning after an old friend he betrayed shows up in his life.
