Freaked is an American comedy directed by Tom Stern and Alex Winter. Originally dubbed 'Hideously Mutant Freekz', this movie went through many changes and rewrites. Due to critics claiming it was too 'weird', Freaked was taken away from wide distribution and played only in select theaters. The film follows Ricky Coogin, played by Alex Winter, a former child star turned salesman for a slimy mega corporation known as Everything Except Shoes Corporation. While on a road trip with best friend Ernie (Michael Stoyanov) and attractive environmentalist Julie (Megan Ward), they come across a freak show that changes their lives forever. Freaked was released into theaters October 1st 1993 and received mixed reviews; some loved it while others hated it. Despite the rocky release the film won two awards, the grand prize at the 1995 Gérardmer Film Festival as well as Best Actor (for "The Creatures of the Film") at the 1994 Fantafestival. It was also nominated for Best Make Up in the Saturn Awards.
