Gentleman is a 1993 Indian Tamil-language vigilante film directed by S. Shankar and produced by K. T. Kunjumon. The film stars Arjun Sarja, Madhoo, and Subhasri in lead roles. The music for the film was composed by A. R. Rahman, making it the third collaboration between Shankar and Rahman after hits like Roja and Kadhalan. The film tells the story of Krishna (Arjun), a socially conscious mechanic who lives with his sister and grandmother. He falls in love with Devi (Madhoo), a school teacher, and their relationship blossoms while they work together to help the community. However, things take a dark turn when Devi is sexually assaulted by her employer's son, Prakash (Charan Raj).

When Krishna confronts Prakash, he too is brutally beaten up, and his sister is molested in front of him. Driven by anger and a desire for revenge, Krishna decides to take matters into his own hands and becomes a vigilante, targeting corrupt businessmen and politicians who exploit the poor.

Krishna adopts the alter ego of Gentleman and begins to operate in the shadows. He gains a loyal following among the people, who begin to look up to him as a modern-day Robin Hood. However, he also attracts the attention of the police, who see him as a dangerous criminal.

Meanwhile, Devi's family pressures her to marry Prakash, despite her reservations. When she refuses, they concoct a plan to abduct her and force her into marriage. Krishna comes to her rescue, and they flee to a secluded village, where they are finally able to live in peace.

The film is known for its innovative use of technology, including the computer-generated images used in the song "Chikku Bukku Rayile." It also addresses several important social issues, such as corruption, sexual assault, and the exploitation of the poor.

Arjun delivers a powerful performance as Krishna/Gentleman, portraying both his sensitive side and his violent alter ego with equal conviction. Madhoo is equally impressive as Devi, bringing depth and nuance to her character. Subhasri provides strong comedic relief as Krishna's sister.

Overall, Gentleman is a thought-provoking film that raises important questions about justice and morality. Shankar's direction, Rahman's music, and Arjun's performance all contribute to making it a classic of Tamil cinema.
