Ghostquake is a supernatural horror movie that was released in 2012. It is directed by Jack Heller and stars Jonathan Baron, Gabe Begneaud, Charisma Carpenter, and Lauren Pennington. The movie was released under the title Haunted High in some regions. The movie takes place in New Orleans where a group of high school students finds themselves haunted by ghosts.

The movie starts with a group of students venturing into the abandoned high school building to prank their peers. As they start getting into the building they realize that something is off. One of them gets possessed by a ghost and starts acting weirdly. Later they discover that the building is built on a Native American burial ground, which makes the area haunted.

Things start to escalate quickly as the students struggle to escape the building which seems to have a mind of its own. With each passing moment, the students find themselves up against more dangerous and vengeful ghosts. The intensity of the hauntings escalates, and soon the students are fighting for their survival.

Jonas, played by Jonathan Baron, is one of the students who becomes possessed by a ghost. He is the first one to sense the danger in the school building. He tries to warn his friends but they brush him off. Jonas then becomes increasingly erratic and dangerous, posing a serious threat to his friends.

Charisma Carpenter plays Dr. Crenshaw, a historian who has studied the area for years. She is convinced that the high school building is haunted and is determined to help the students. Dr. Crenshaw is a sympathetic character who is willing to put everything on the line to help the students escape the building.

Gabe Begneaud, on the other hand, plays the role of the school's principal. He is initially skeptical of the students' claims about the haunting but eventually goes in to investigate. The principal is a realist who tries to solve the situation logically. The realistic approach that the principal embodies makes for an interesting contrast with the supernatural forces that the students face.

Throughout the movie, the characters face a series of challenges from the vengeful ghosts who stand in their way. The ghosts range from young cheerleaders to mutilated soldiers, each with their own gruesome backstory.

The special effects used in Ghostquake are commendable, as they create an intense and believable portrayal of haunted spirits. The use of practical effects and CG is well balanced, resulting in a smooth blend that amplifies the threat posed by the ghosts.

The cinematography used in the movie is conventional but effective. The film takes advantage of the haunting atmosphere of the school building, using the halls and rooms to create a sense of claustrophobia and dread.

Overall, Ghostquake is an entertaining supernatural horror movie that presents an eerie and engaging story. The cast does a good job of bringing their characters to life, especially Charisma Carpenter whose presence adds gravitas to the story. The well-executed special effects and the haunting atmosphere help to make the movie an engaging and thrilling horror experience.

Ghostquake is a 2012 horror movie with a runtime of 1 hour and 24 minutes. It has received mostly poor reviews from critics and viewers, who have given it an IMDb score of 3.1.
