Gloria is a drama comedy from Chilean writer, director, producer and editor Sebastian Lelio. The film premiered the 9th of May 2013 in Chile and the 10th in Berlin for the 63rd Berlin International Film Festival. The film stars Paulina Garcia and Sergio Hernandez, Pablo Krough and Coca Guazzini. The plot revolves around the lovelorn divorcee Gloria Cumplido whose children have all moved out. Facing the despair of utter loneliness she decides to defy social convention and throw herself into a myriad of singles parties with unabashed flair and startling physicality. Despite her efforts she is left with nothing but momentary gratification and mounting despair. But soon she meets Rodolfo Fernandez, an ex-naval officer for whom she quickly develops romantic feelings. But all is not as it seems and a series of events makes Gloria confront her own darkness born of secrets from her storied past.
The film was very warmly received and netted lead actress Paulina Garcia (who portrays Gloria) the prestigious silver bear at the 2013 Berlin International Film Festival.
