Hi-Line

A conman convinces a guileless young woman from Montana that she has a job at a major retail store in Chicago. But her parents see through his story and try to make him leave town. The conman then confesses to having a letter from a man who died recently in prison. The letter says the young woman is his daughter and he and her mother, a woman named Estelle, placed her in the couple's care.

This forces the parents to admit the truth, leading the young woman to question her life and to look for her mother in the desolate "hi-line" area of Montana.
