High Tension is a 2003 French horror movie directed by Alexandre Aja. Two women, Marie and Alex, are on their way to Alex's parents' house for the weekend. The home is situated in a more remote area of the French countryside. Late at night, a man shows up at the door of the home. He is a mad serial killer who murders Alex's family and chains Alex up in the home. Marie is able to hide and avoid detection as the killer rampages through the home. The killer kidnaps Alex and Marie chooses to chase after them to save her friend. The killer puts Marie into the back of a large truck. Before he closes the door on the truck, Marie sneaks in. She gives the chained up Alex a knife to protect herself. The truck stops at a grocery/gas station. Marie sneaks out only to discover the killer has murdered the person working at the store. Marie finds car keys in the store and chases after the killer and his truck.
