A boy named Roy had just moved to Florida from Montana where he is bullied and picked on by Dana. However, he eventually ends up meeting a girl named Beatrice but most people call her by her nickname The Bear. Beatrice is a spunky girl with the courage to stand up to Dana. He also ends up befriending her stepbrother Mullet Fingers. They end up telling Roy about a group of wild endangered owls that they look after in a vacant lot. A rude, corrupt and ruthless CEO of a pancake factory is planning on making a pancake house in a vacant lot. The only problem is that if he succeeds with his plans he would end up killing the group of burrowing owls, but even though he knows they are there they are little to no importance to him. After the trio learns of this they decide to save the endangered owls. Mullet Fingers makes it his mission to sabotage the construction work on the site. After a while the CEO hires a cop named Delinco to figure out who is vandalizing the construction site. The only problem is that Delinco is very incompetent at his job. Meanwhile, Leroy, the construction foreman, is trying to keep the construction of the pancake house on schedule despite the fact that the owls reside there. Eventually, the kids uncover some evidence of interest to Delinco they stop the construction of the pancake house and even get the town to be quiet long enough for the owls to come out . At the end of the movie Roy's parents decided to stay in Florida. Dana, the bully, gets sent to military camp. Muckle, the CEO, ends up doing community service and as Roy and Mullet Fingers walk along the beach they pass a sigh that states the development of a 300 Luxury unit that is coming soon. The two nod their head and walk off the beach.
