This 1995 heartwarming movie is based on the book by Whitney Otto. Winona Ryder stars as the main character, Finn, who needs an escape from her chaotic life. Finn goes to visit her grandmother Hy, and aunt Gladys Joe. Finn uses the time away to contemplate what she wants to do with her life and if she’s ready to commit to her fiancée. During her stay, Finn becomes close with Hy and Gladys, and their quilting friends. She also forms a friendship with neighbor Leon, who awakens romantic feelings in her.

Finn begins joining the ladies in their quilting sessions as they make a quilt that will one day be given to Finn. The ladies share their feelings on love and stories about their romance troubles. As Finn listens to their stories, she begins to think about her own life and what kind of love she wants.

The movie also stars Ellen Burstyn, Anne Bancroft, Maya Angelou, and Alfre Woodard.
