Vanessa Parise's film Jack and Jill vs. the World was released on the silver screen on the fourth day of April in 2008 with its DVD release on the fourteenth of June in the same year. The main stars of the film are Freddie Prinze Jr. and Taryn Manning, with Parise writing a role for herself in the character of Lucy. Jack is a thirty-something New York City ad exec, who lives a life built and maintained by routine. Jack is successful, elegant bored out of his mind. Jack meets Taryn Manning's Jill during a chance encounter along a rooftop. Jill is hunting for an apartment and winds up asking Jack for directions. He suggests her name for a particular advertisement's filming and later drives her to her apartment, where he realizes that her neighborhood may not as safe as she believes. He helps Jill move out of her apartment and the pair move in together in the span of a single week. The two of them work out a joyful theses of "Rules to Live By." These rules dictate total honesty, to believe in the whimsical, to create beauty whenever possible, to accept life as it is, compassion, to watch less television, and to always accept when you're wrong, among other things. When Jack's best friend/business partner, George notices that Jack seems to be a bit more joyful, he wants to find the source. Jill's free-wheeling personality causes some friction, with long absences going unexplained. Jack harangues Jill to confess a reason for her disappearances, learning that it's for treating her cystic fibrosis. Furious at Jill for violating Rule One, Jack breaks up with Jill. After talking with his father, Jack decides to seek out Jill. He tracks down Jill's quirky friend, Lucy, and states his case. After some convincing, Lucy tells Jack that Jill is going to take a Greyhound bus on a cross-country trip for Hollywood. Jack reexamines his priorities, right as a bomb threat is made at his work (before he's able to quit his job). Jack heads outside of the building where George explains that the threat was called in by someone who wanted to fight ugliness. Jack knows that the culprit is Jill. They patch things up, and with a new dog with them, head for the highway with no goal other than for a new life together.
