Watch Just One of the Guys

This is an 80s comedy about a teenage girl named Terri who desperately wants to win a writing competition at her high school. The winner gets a summer intership for her town's newspaper. When the editor of the school's paper calls her to his office to go over her paper, he tells her that while her paper is good, it is a fluff piece. She needs to dig deep and get personal. Later she hears two male teachers talking about how hot she is. Terri is so upset and feels if she were a boy that she would be treated different and that her paper would have won. She decides to go to the rival school and enroll as a boy. She cuts off all her hair and asks her girl-crazed brother for help with how to walk and talk like a boy. When Terri's boyfriend shows up, he is not too happy about her haircut. When Terri arrives at the new school she meets Rick, a nerd who was also the new kid a few months back. He tries to give her some pointers on how to handle being new. Terri thinks Rick is sweet but needs help in the style department. She decides to give him a make-over. As Terri is helping Rick with his style, she starts to have feelings for him. Meanwhile, she is still trying to juggle her boyfriend, Kevin. Kevin is getting increasingly upset with Terri breaking their dates. As prom is nearing, Terri is helping Rick ask girls out. To Terri's dismay he asks out Deborah. She also happens to be the ex-girlfriend of Greg. Greg has been the school bully who has made Rick and Terri's life miserable since they got there. Deborah agrees to go with Rick. Terri takes her best friend Denise to the prom so Rick won't back out of going. While at the prom, Kevin is at Terri's house threatening Terri's brother Buddy. Buddy succumbs and tells Kevin where Terri is at. Kevin shows up at the prom, and Terri is busted. Rick is disgusted that she lied to him. When summer comes, Terri has won her internship and loves it. The only thing missing is Rick. As Buddy is picking Terri up from work one day, Rick shows up. He tells Terri he misses her. They kiss and drive off together.
