Khaidi is a 1983 Telugu language action drama film directed by A. Kodandarami Reddy, starring Chiranjeevi, Madhavi, and Raogopalrao in lead roles. The film was produced by K. Dhanunjaya Reddy, and it was Chiranjeevi's first major hit. The movie begins with Suryam (Chiranjeevi) who is a petty thief, getting caught by the police for stealing. While in police custody, Suryam gets to know about his past life and his family who have been waiting for him for the past 10 years. Suryam is shocked to know that he has been living the life of a thief and has no memory of his family. His past is revealed through a series of flashbacks. Suryam is actually Vijay, a former soldier who was falsely implicated in a conspiracy by the villainous Minister (Raogopalrao) and was sentenced to prison for 10 years. The Minister tries to kill Vijay's family but Vijay's sister Radha (Madhavi) manages to escape and survive with the help of their father's loyal servant. Radha has been waiting for Vijay's return to take revenge on the Minister and bring justice to their family. After his release, Suryam tries to find his family but is attacked by the Minister's henchmen. The rest of the movie revolves around how Suryam becomes Vijay and avenges the wrongdoing by the Minister. The film has several high-octane action sequences, which was a rarity in Telugu cinema at that time. Chiranjeevi's performance as Suryam/Vijay was appreciated by the audience, and the film became a huge commercial success. The film's music was composed by K. Chakravarthy and the songs were immensely popular. The film was remade in Hindi as Johny Mera Naam Preethi Mera Kaam, starring Pawan Kalyan, and in Kannada as Veera Madakari, starring Sudeep. Overall, Khaidi is a classic Telugu film that is still remembered for its action sequences, strong storyline, and Chiranjeevi's performance. The film cemented Chiranjeevi's position as one of the leading actors in the industry and is a must-watch for Telugu cinema fans.
