Laal Kuthi is a Bengali horror movie that was released in the year 1978. The movie is directed by Kanak Mukherjee and stars Tanuja and Ranjit Mallick in the lead roles. The plot of the movie revolves around a haunted mansion called Laal Kuthi which is said to be cursed. The movie begins with a young couple, Raja and Rani, who are on their way to visit Raja's uncle's mansion called Laal Kuthi. On their way, they meet with an accident and are taken to a nearby hospital. Raja's uncle, who was already aware of their visit, comes to the hospital to take them to the mansion.

Laal Kuthi is a massive mansion that has been abandoned for years. Raja's uncle, who is a wealthy businessman, had bought the mansion to renovate it and turn it into a luxurious hotel. However, he soon realizes that the mansion is haunted and that strange things happen in the house at night.

On their first night at the mansion, Raja and Rani experience strange occurrences. They hear footsteps, see shadows moving, and hear strange noises throughout the night. They also see a woman in a red saree walking around the house. The next day, Raja's uncle dismisses their claims and asks them to forget about the events of the previous night.

However, things take a turn for the worse when Rani starts experiencing disturbing nightmares. She wakes up screaming in the middle of the night, and no one seems to be able to calm her down. Raja is determined to find out what is causing her nightmares and begins to investigate the history of the mansion.

He discovers that the mansion was built by an Englishman named Richard Dawson in the 19th century. Dawson was obsessed with black magic and had performed dark rituals in the house. He had also killed many people in the mansion and buried them in the basement. Dawson's wife, who had gone insane, had also killed herself in the mansion.

Raja realizes that the woman in the red saree that he and Rani had seen is Dawson's wife, who is haunting the house. Raja's uncle, who is skeptical about the existence of ghosts, does not believe him. However, Raja is determined to prove him wrong.

In the climax of the movie, Raja and Rani decide to spend one last night in the mansion to confront the ghost. They face many obstacles and scares, and at one point, the ghost possesses Rani. Raja, with the help of a priest, performs a ritual to exorcise the ghost from Rani's body.

In the end, Raja's uncle decides to demolish the mansion and build a new hotel in its place. The movie ends with the implication that the ghost of Dawson's wife is still present in the area.

Laal Kuthi is a classic horror movie that is considered one of the best horror movies in Bengali cinema. The movie has a gripping storyline and succeeds in creating a creepy atmosphere.
